Board of Directors Application

Membership on the Board of Directors of the National Queer Asian Pacific Islander Alliance (NQAPIA) is a commitment to being a leader charged with shepherding NQAPIA through the ongoing fulfillment of NQAPIA’s organizational mission.

Board Members are ambassadors, fundraisers, and stewards of the organization.

NQAPIA is looking for Board Members who have the following skills and experiences. We are prioritizing individuals whose experiences and skills overlap multiple areas of expertise, but encourage all who are interested to apply.

 

You may be a great fit for NQAPIA's Board if you have lived experience with and deep connections to the LGBTQ+ AANHPI community, are experienced with working and supporting the LGBTQ+ AANHPI community, are skilled in managing nonprofit finances, fundraising, nonprofit legal issues
and live, work, or have lived in and have an understanding of the needs of the LGBTQ+ AANHPI community particularly in the US south, southeast, or midwest.

Board Members are expected to:
- Spend 3-5 hours/month on NQAPIA
- Serve on the Board for 2 years (up to 5 years if you choose to extend your service) 
- Serve on at least one Board committee, which may include a transition committee, Board Development committee, event/fundraising committee
- Be available for Board meetings (every 2 months) and ongoing review of documents from the Executive Director (currently interim)
- Act as stewards for NQAPIA's fundraising and development efforts. For 2025, the expectation is that Board Members give to NQAPIA as one of their top 3 gifts for the year. There is no a specific dollar donation amount requirement at this time for equity purposes.
